Funding and fees

You suffer a lot from menopause symptoms and your family doctor or company doctor refers you to FemmePrex. Great that you can work together with our menopause nurse and gynecologist, but what does it actually cost?

When it comes to health care costs you are obviously not waiting for unpleasant surprises. Below we explain what the costs are, what reimbursement options there are and what to look out for.

Reimbursement by health insurance company

We have no contracts with health insurance companies in the Netherlands. Menopause care and the medication for it are included in the basic package of all health insurers. To claim the costs of care from your insurer, you need a referral from your general practitioner or company doctor. Your doctor can register you with us by sending a referral via Zorgdomein or via our website. This means that if you submit our bill to your health insurer, your insurer will partially reimburse the cost of care for the treatment. Once the insurer reimburses the care, there may still be a claim on your outstanding deductible.

Cost

When your treatment begins, it is not immediately clear what your treatment will look like or how long it will take. Therefore, it is usually not known in advance how much your treatment will cost in total. What is clear is how much each part of the treatment will cost. A price has been agreed for each separate part of your care program (the care services). The costs charged by FemmePrex depend on the number of consultations within a DBC (Diagnosis Treatment Combination). The duration of the first DBC is 3 months, after that a follow-up DBC lasts 4 months.

Mandatory deductible

A compulsory deductible excess applies in the Netherlands for everyone aged 18 and older. For the calendar years 2024 and 2025 this amounts to € 385,- per insured person. This means that everyone aged 18 and older must pay the first € 385,- of insured healthcare costs in a calendar year themselves. Your deductible will be charged each year that you have an intake or treatment.

Voluntary excess

Perhaps on top of the mandatory deductible, you have agreed on a voluntary deductible with your health insurer. If so, you may have to pay more. In that case, the costs of your treatment will be deducted up to the maximum amount of your (remaining) obligatory + voluntary deductible excess. You can always ask your health insurance company how much deductible is still outstanding. They can also inform you about the specific reimbursements belonging to your insurance.

Self-pay track

FemmePrex offers the possibility to pay the costs of the program yourself, if you are not referred (you do not have or get a referral). You can then not claim your costs with your health insurance. The treatment consists of a digital questionnaire, a consultation with the menopause nurse and a consultation with the gynecologist. For this you will receive an invoice of €334. The rates for repeat consultations are listed below:

Employer track

You have been referred by your company doctor to FemmePrex in connection with menopause complaints and your employer would like a screening to take place on short notice. This screening will be reimbursed by your employer. If the screening shows that a treatment of your symptoms can be instituted, this can then take place at our office. After referral by your company doctor the costs will be charged according to the DBC rates. You can submit this bill to your health insurance company or, if you have agreed so, to your employer.
